Harpist, Luisa-Maria Ovett studied at the University
of Surrey in Guildford. During this time she was part of the trio who won the
Croser-Hughes chamber music award for two years in succession. Since graduating
she has performed both internationally and through out the UK as a solo harpist,
with professional orchestras and opera companies. Luisa has played at many
prestigious
venues
and is a regular performer at National Trust properties throughout the country,
having been the official harpist at Warwick Castle.
Her innovative approach to the Harp has led to duo collaborations with Flute, Oboe, a Soprano and also in the Harp Duo “Harpasonic”. Luisa has recently returned from a successful concert tour to the USA, which included live performances, radio and television broadcasts. Harpasonic will soon be launching a new touring show to demonstrate the more “funky” side of harp playing combined with a classical and Celtic approach. Their tours will include UK, America, France and Australia.
Teaching is also an enjoyable and important part of Luisa’s life and she is the Founder and Director of the Surrey Harp Ensemble. Their performances have included playing at the Barbican and touring Belgium. They are now preparing for concerts at The Vera Fletcher Hall, The Royal Albert Hall and in France.
Recently Luisa has been asked to host a joint Harp master class with Skaila Kanga, the Professor of Harp at the Royal Academy of Music.
